In just a few weeks, YWAM Perth is having our next intake of students for our Discipleship Training Schools, including the newly renamed Media, Arts, and Photography DTS.  This is going to be an amazing time of people going deeper in their walk with Jesus, getting equipped for missions, and discovering how God wants to teach them to use their gifts and passions for his glory.  They recently produced an awesome little promotional video that you can check out below.

This morning, as teams from our YWAM Perth October quarter of training were reporting back about their experiences on outreach, the SFM and Create International Perth were being prayed over and commissioned for something very exciting:  we're heading off onto outreach to Southeast Asia.

Over the last few weeks on the School of Frontier Media Perth we have been looking at a range of topics that go into producing a documentary film. 

It was only a year ago that Create Perth closed down its offices on Lord Street and moved in with the rest of YWAM Perth offices.  That has put us in the thick of one of the most exciting times in YWAM Perth’s history – our move into our permanent base around the corner on Robertson Street.

In the thick of everything else going on (more on that soon), Create Perth has been working on producing a small evangelistic tract with a target audience of Asian migrants in our city.  We are partnering on this with Asia Impact, a ministry of YWAM Perth that is reaching out to the 10,000 Asian-Buddhists in Perth. 

Over at our international website, which covers information relevant to all of Create's centres and teams, you can have a look at our most recent Create International e-Newsletter.  It contains articles about the exciting and important 20/20 vision, and testimonies about the impact of projects that were produced as long as ago as the mid-1990's, and as recently as this year! A couple of weeks ago we had a testimony on this blog about our outreach to the Punjabi Sikhs last year, when Create Perth teamed up with the School of Frontier Media 2010 and with other Create International teams to produce a bunch of resources for this people group.

This April, YWAM Perth is reducing the price for the Discipleship Training School (DTS) on a one-time only basis.  The normal price of AU$3500 for a 12 week lecture phase has been reduced to AU$2500 (not counting book fee or outreach fees).  It's something we've felt God has led us to do in order to throw the door as widely open as possible for people.  We believe the DTS is valuable training not only for missions, but for Christian life, and want to see as many people encounter God deeply and be equipped to serve him.

There's been a lot of transition at Create Perth over the last few weeks.  We’ve shifted offices from the facility that we’ve been in for the last six years to being right on the YWAM Perth base itself, working shoulder to shoulder with the rest of the YWAM community in this city.    We have always been part of the family here, but it’s great to not be separated from everyone as we do our day-to-day work.  Our prior office was a huge blessing and it was out of that office that we grew a lot and did a lot of multiplication into other Create centres, God’s made it clear that it’s time for us to come back to the primary YWAM Perth office.

The need for new and diverse media tools to share the gospel with the unreached is immense and hasn’t changed.  Recently, Calvin and Carol Conkey, the international directors of Create International, posted a paper on our international site that they had previously shared at a global missions conference that highlights this need and suggests some strategies for meeting it.
